The plight of the mutants is universally compelling. Many people feel a need for a surrogate family, one composed of those the world has abused and persecuted in the same way they have been their whole life. This is especially true in adolescents, which may in part explain some of the draw of mutants. ” An obvious parallel between homosexuality and mutation is drawn in the feature film, where 's mother asks, 'Have you tried not being a mutant?' And ever since then, all I have wanted is to be with you. Seeing you happy brightens my day and makes me think I am doing the right things. You have the most loving and forgiving heart I have ever known and I can assure you that you will remain the centre of attention for me. I will do everything in my capacity to keep you happy. Ours will be an everlasting friendship because two inseparable souls cannot live in isolation. The day I discover you in arms, that will be the happiest day of my life. Thank you for being there, at least on my mind. To Fanny Brawne: I cannot exist without you - I am forgetful of every thing but seeing you again - my life seems to stop there - I see no further. You have absorb'd me. I have a sensation at the present moment as though I were dissolving.I have been astonished that men could die martyrs for religion - I have shudder'd at it - I shudder no more - I could be martyr'd for my religion - love is my religion - I could die for that - I could die for you. My creed is love and you are its only tenet - you have ravish'd me away by a power I cannot resist. - John Keats. I Love You Forever by Kathy Dear Josh, It has been the most amazing 5 months of my life and I've already done things I have yet to actually realize. We have come a very long way and stuck by each other's side through a lot of pain. You have shown me what its like to love and be loved and that's my happiness. It's all I need to have the most amazing life I can possibly have, and thank you for it. You've helped me understand a lot of things people don't think I understand or think that I'm allowed to understand which is what is making me a very strong person. I have a lot more respect for love and people who have it. To be mature, you have to be an adult. But to be in love, you have to be nothing but a human being with a heart. That is very much true. No ones parents should prevent their children from falling in love with someone because of their age and it's not allowed. You can't stop love, and you defiantly shouldn't put your own feelings on hold because someone is telling you 'You're not allowed to love him because you're too young.' You are everything to me, my life really, and I'm not going to give that up. I can't live without a life. Honey, you are one of a kind and how people can say the things they do about you is beyond me. I don't understand why people don't see you the way I do. In my eyes, you are the most amazing person. You understand me and care about me more than anyone else has ever even thought about. You are so caring, and wonderful. You're lovely. We have a healthy relationship that is going to last a life time because you and I are willing to work at anything that needs to be worked. Josh, we are going to make our lives amazing along with someone else's. We are going to have an amazing family and an amazing home to live in. I know now that what we have is so very truer because I can see myself in you. I can see us in you, in your eyes. I wrote this letter to you from my heart. From mine to yours. I love you, Honey - forever. Your lovely, Kathy. My dear (Name of the receipent) There are things in life that are inevitable; I am powerless to control them. The Sun will rise and set, the tide will come in and go out, the seasons will change, the birds will fly South for the winter and return in the spring, and the caterpiller will transform itself into a beautiful butterfly. Somehow, I feel reassured by this because many other things in life are so transient - so momentary. Neneng, from the moment we met, I knew that our friendship would develop into something lasting and precious, just as I am sure that the caterpiller will one day become a handsome butterfly. Dearest, I believe that our love is blessed by God. It is a union of two spirits destined for everlasting happiness. Thus, you have truly become the star of my life which brings me light in this dark world, and warmth when I need it. You offer me the promise of renewal, the joy of living, the peace of mind that comes from sharing and caring, and that shoulder to lean on in times of stress. You are my Swallow from Capistrano - my precious butterfly, and I will cherish you and love you forever. Yours Forever (Name of the sender). Dear (Name of the receipent) I am the same person and yet. I have discovered that a friendship is something that lives and grows. It requires time, care and attention. It has its ups and downs, but sometimes the difficulties make it stronger than ever. I have discovered that there is something 'mysterious' about this relationship between us. It is almost a thing in itself and yet there is nothing one can see or touch. I have seen changes in me because of you, and changes in you because of me. I am the same person i was before and yet, because of your presence in my life, I am different i have become more sure of myself because you like me the way i am. I am interested in more things because you are interested in them. I have grown as a person because of sharing so much with you. And you too have changed, grown, and expanded. I am learning tha there are things in life, the most important things, that i can not see, count or measure in anyway. The qualities and effects of frienship that mean most to me are the very ones I cannot really define or even described. Nor can I described my Love friend the more i know you and share with you, the more i discover about you. I think we could be love friends for more than 50 years and still find something new in each other. All i know about you my love friend is that I am better because of you.I am freer, stronger and happier. Always, (Name of the sender). I can't live without a life. Your lovely, (Name of the sender) Romantic Letters. 1.) Dear Beloved My love, we must not lose hope, for if hope is lost, then I fear we too will be lost forever. If your father the Duke has forbidden you to see me publicly, then let us meet under starlight at the windmill upon the mountain. There, late at night, the wood owls make their gothic music. We shall talk together, embrace one another, and at least have two hours each night before the early dawn light. And I still hope if we wait for a few months longer, his mind might be persuaded to receive a poor man like me into your genteel family. How can we let our love be sacrificed to the will of such an unkind man? I know I cannot, and I hope that you cannot, for if you leave me, I shall never recover. 2.) Sweetest Fanny, You fear, sometimes, I do not love you so much as you wish? My dear Girl I love you ever and ever and without reserve. The more I have known you the more have I lov'd. In every way - even my jealousies have been agonies of Love, in the hottest fit I ever had I would have died for you. I have vex'd you too much. But for Love! Can I help it? You are always new. The last of your kisses was ever the sweetest; the last smile the brightest; the last movement the gracefullest. When you pass'd my window home yesterday, I was fill'd with as much admiration as if I had then seen you for the first time. You uttered a half complaint once that I only lov'd your Beauty. Have I nothing else then to love in you but that? Do not I see a heart naturally furnish'd with wings imprison itself with me? No ill prospect has been able to turn your thoughts a moment from me. This perhaps should be as much a subject of sorrow as joy - but I will not talk of that. Even if you did not love me I could not help an entire devotion to you: how much more deeply then must I feel for you knowing you love me. My Mind has been the most discontented and restless one that ever was put into a body too small for it. I never felt my Mind repose upon anything with complete and undistracted enjoyment - upon no person but you. When you are in the room my thoughts never fly out of window: you always concentrate my whole senses. The anxiety shown about our Love in your last note is an immense pleasure to me; however you must not suffer such speculations to molest you any more: not will I any more believe you can have the least pique against me. Brown is gone out -- but here is Mrs Wylie -- when she is gone I shall be awake for you. -- Remembrances to your Mother. Your affectionate, J. 3.) 'Dear Love, There isn't a moment that goes by without you gracing my memory. There isn't a moment I don't think of you. There isn't a moment that doesn't make me fall in love with you all over again. It doesn't matter whether you are with me or not, all that matter is your love for me. I know you will forever be my sweetheart and there is nothing on earth that can separate us from each other. There maybe be times when I don't say how much I love you, but you be rest assured of the fact that my heart beats for you and it craves for only your touch. All the moments we kiss and every single experience that we share makes us both grow fonder of each other. You are my baby and there is not a single day I want to spend without you. Come to me darling and make me yours. I will love you forever, and ever and ever. 4.) 'My Love, Hope you miss me like I miss you. I hope you care for me like I do. I really hope you love me like I do. You have been in my dreams since the first day I met you and since then there isn't a moment I have not thought about you. I want you as my partner, to face all the challenges life has to offer and I know with you by my side, there is nothing I cannot do. I want to be with you and I want you in my life. Be by my side and the rest will fall in place. We will live life in the most enjoyable ways possible and there is nothing that can hold us back from being the best couple in the world. Just wait and be patient as I bring you all the joys of world. Yours Only' 4 Hints for Writing A Romantic Letter Here are some tips for creating the perfect message of love and romance, no matter whether you’re writing it with ink or a keyboard! Use Drafts Most people never do this, so it’s a surefire way to immediately set your romantic letter or email a cut above the rest. Reading over your words several times will give you a new perspective on them, even if you only take a few moments to do it. When the emotions are pouring out of you, you’re not necessarily paying attention to the content of what you write—which is as it should be, since this is what will create a passionate letter. But once you’ve written all this out, you might find that your words will ultimately be more powerful with some help from an editing process. Be Honest Correspondence between two lovers is intimate, almost as intimate as the time that they actually spend together. A romantic message creates a private mental space where you and your partner share your deepest emotions and, even more than a memory, a physical letter is something he or she can always return to again and again. What will make your letter special and moving is the honesty with which you communicate your emotions. Don’t be afraid to go deep, and to truly capture your partner’s heart by baring your own to them. Go Highbrow Smutty letters have their place in a relationship, but you need to decide beforehand whether you want your letter to stir the emotions or the body, and then stick with that plan. The tender buildup of a romantic letter can easily be ruined if racy descriptions suddenly show up out of nowhere. Remember that withholding something creates far more anticipation, desire, and ultimate pleasure than unceremoniously dumping your thoughts out there. Use your romantic letter as an opportunity to hint at the more physical aspects of your relationship, while focusing on the emotional. Be tantalizing—it will drive your lover wild! Stay Focused It can be hard to articulate something as deep and meaningful as your emotions of love, but it will serve you in the end to stay on topic in your love letter. Rambling or jumping from one subject to another can make for a letter that comes across as disjointed or distracting. You want your lover to get lost in the letter, to experience the sensations almost as though they are with you. Focus on what you really want to say, and don’t allow random tangents to enter into what you’re writing. Keep in mind what writers of all stripes have known for generations: not every stray thought deserves a mention. Top Sweet Romantic Letters. 'My dearest angel, I am totally devoted to you. I long to hold you close to my heart and never let you go. I love your loving and tender touch. I do cherish and adore you. In you I find the greatest joy and happiness in my life. Dear (Name of receipent) My husband is a liar and a cheat. He has cheated on me from the beginning. When I confront him, he denies everything. What's worse is everyone knows he cheats on me. It is so humiliating! Also, since he lost his job two years ago he hasn't even looked for a new one. It's true that you and I have been married for seven years, although a good woman is a far cry from what you've been. I watch sports so much to try to drown out your constant nagging. Too bad that doesn't work. I did notice when you cut off all of your hair last week, the first thing that came to mind was 'You look just like a man!' My mother raised me to not say anything if you can't say anything nice. When you cooked my favorite meal, you must have gotten me confused with MY BROTHER, because I stopped eating pork seven years ago. I went to sleep on you when you had on that new negligee because the price tag was still on it. I prayed that it was a coincidence that my brother had just borrowed fifty dollars from me that morning and your negligee was $49.99. After all of this, I still loved you and felt that we could work it out. So when I discovered that I had hit the lotto for ten million dollars, I quit my job and bought us two tickets to Jamaica. Set in turn-of-the-century England, the film finds Temple being enrolled in a boarding school by her wealthy widowed father (Ian Hunter), who must head off to fight in the Boer War. At first, Temple is treated like royalty; her behavior couldn't be more down to earth, but this preferential treatment foments resentment. When her father is reported killed in the war, circumstances are severely altered. These limits are more like speed limits than barriers at the end of the road: the rate at which renewable resources can renew themselves, the rate at which we can change from nonrenewable resources to renewable ones, and the rate at which nature can recycle our pollution. [W]e are overshooting such crucial resources as food and water while overwhelming nature with pollutants like those causing global warming.' ' Beyond the Limits recognizes that the future doesn't lie in tinkering with resource use or simply squelching population growth in developing countries. A sustainable future will require profound social and psychological readjustments in the developed and developing world.' 'Current crop yields can only sustain the world's population at subsistence levels, while nonrenewable energy resources and fresh water supplies are dwindling, and greenhouse gases and other pollutants increase. But while the prognosis is disaster within decades if nothing is done, there are encouraging signs. Technology offers greater efficiency in energy consumption and pollution control, international response to the ozone crisis has been relatively swift, and recycling efforts are gaining headway. [However] the conditions underlying limit overshoots--population growth and resource depletion in a finite world, for example--remain unaddressed in the corridors of power.' We had been working out together for quite some time and were accustomed to each other's strengths and weaknesses. When it came to dumbbells, I excelled; in fact, I was the strongest in the group. However, I still wanted to improve my strength through other exercises and equipment. After everyone finished, I decided to hang back to lift a little more weight. My intent was to increase my strength faster than my buddies. I decided to attack the dip machine with free weights. Initially, I mounted the machine with low weight to judge my capabilities. After two sets in, I realized I was able to do a lot more weight than I predicted. A few sets of light weights snowballed into me attempting to determine my absolute limit. Before I knew it, I was lifting too much weight. Suddenly, I felt a 'POP!' And nearly fell onto the floor. At first, I thought I was just sore; however, I later realized I had injured a muscle in my chest. My injury took months to heal. I was non-mission capable, unable to work out with my buddies and lost my weightlifting progress during my recovery. I strongly recommend everyone heed the following guidance when it comes to weight lifting take it from a guy who learned the hard way! When lifting weights, it is best to do it in a buddy team. I also learned you cannot push yourself past your limits safely. You should always use proper lifting techniques and make sure the equipment you're using is in good condition. Fortunately, I did not cause any chronic pain that put my future as a Soldier in jeopardy. The Mayo Clinic's website, www.mayoclinic.com, has additional weightlifting tips that will help anyone get their workout on, safely! When weight training, do: •Lift an appropriate amount of weight. Start with a weight you can lift comfortably 12 to 15 times. For most people, a single set of 12 repetitions with the proper weight can build strength just as efficiently as can three sets of the same exercise. As you get stronger, gradually increase the amount of weight. •Use proper form. Learn to do each exercise correctly. The better your form, the better your results -- and the less likely you are to hurt yourself. If you're unable to maintain good form, decrease the weight or the number of repetitions. Remember that proper form matters even when you pick up and replace your weights on the weight racks. If you're not sure whether you're doing a particular exercise correctly, ask a personal trainer or other fitness specialist for help. You might be tempted to hold your breath while you're lifting weights. Holding your breath can lead to dangerous increases in blood pressure. Instead, breathe out as you lift the weight and breathe in as you lower the weight. •Seek balance. Work all of your major muscles -- abdominals, legs, chest, back, shoulders and arms. Strengthen the opposing muscles in a balanced way, such as the front of the shoulder and the back of the shoulder. Avoid exercising the same muscles two days in a row. You might work all of your major muscle groups at a single session two or three times a week, or plan daily sessions for specific muscle groups. For example, on Monday, work your arms and shoulders; on Tuesday, work your legs and so on. When weight training, don't: •Skip your warm-up. Cold muscles are more prone to injury than warm muscles. Before you lift weights, warm up with five to 10 minutes of brisk walking or other aerobic activity. Move the weight in an unhurried, controlled fashion. Taking it slow helps you isolate the muscles you want to work and keeps you from relying on momentum to lift the weight. For most people, completing one set of exercises to the point of fatigue is typically enough. Additional sets may only eat up your time and contribute to overload injury. •Work through the pain. If an exercise causes pain, stop. Try it again in a few days or try it with less weight. •Forget your shoes. Shoes with good traction can keep you from slipping while you're lifting weights. W/ info box below and sidebar below FYI According to a release from Science Daily, www.sciencedaily.com, the popularity of weight training has grown over the past decade. A new study conducted by the Center for Injury Research and Policy of The Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital has found that the number of injuries from weight training has increased as well. The study found that more than 970,000 weight training-related injuries were treated in U.S. Hospital emergency departments between 1990 and 2007, increasing nearly 50 percent during the 18-year study period. Masterfully directed by Vincente Minnelli, the film features glossy M-G-M production values on the one hand, and beautifully handled restraint on the other, with each character presented in a sympathetic light even as the plot drives them into inexorable conflict. The score to Home From the Hill is one of the masterpieces of Bronislau Kaper ( The Prodigal, Mutiny on the Bounty), an accomplished composer with a gift for melody. Born in Poland and raised in Europe, Kaper was one of several emigrant composers who ironically had a gift for evoking the American heartland. His themes for Home From the Hill seem as timeless as the land itself and as belonging as the Southern hospitality of the characters. He weaves through the film's interconnected maze of relationships, evoking love—both familial and romantic—as well as tension and violence: first for a dangerous wild boar hunt, and later a climactic manhunt. ![]() George Peppard said of his role in the film: 'There's a long scene in Home From the Hill where the camera stays on me.People are always saying what a fine piece of acting it was. Actually, I didn't do anything but walk and stare ahead. All the acting was done by Kaper.' It is one of the finest compliments ever paid to a film composer, and most deserving in the case of this special score. FSM's premiere release of Home From the Hill features the complete underscore including four alternate selections. Contents • • • • • • • • Plot [ ] In the beginning, Captain Wade Hunnicutt (), the wealthiest and most powerful person in his town, is wounded by a jealous husband. Wade is a notorious womanizer, who lives with his beautiful wife Hannah () who scorns him. She has raised their son Theron () to be dependent upon her, but as he reaches adulthood Theron seeks his father’s help in becoming a man. Wade initiates Theron in hunting and other masculine pursuits under the watchful eye of Rafe (), Hunnicutt's loyal employee. Theron admires the slightly older and more worldly Rafe, and rapidly develops into a marksman and skilled hunter; he also learns about women from Rafe. Theron's new lifestyle leads him into a love affair with Libby Halstead (), a local girl from a proper family, but her father, Albert’s () animosity forces a secret relationship. Theron learns from his mother that the reason for Libby’s father's scorn is Wade's reputation as a womanizer. In this conversation he learns things about his parents that were previously hidden from him, including that Rafe is his illegitimate half-brother. We learn that Rafe’s mother is the root of Hannah’s anger at Wade, although the affair and Rafe’s birth preceded Hannah, and that Wade became unfaithful to her after Hannah turned him out. While Wade respects Rafe, his position is staunch that a bastard is not to be included or acknowledged. Theron becomes disturbed by his parents' dysfunctional relationship and his father’s treatment of Rafe. A disillusioned Theron rejects both his parents along with the concept of family, and thus Libby, his true love. Unbeknownst to Theron, Libby is pregnant, but she does not want this to be the reason for their marriage. However, a confused and despondent Libby turns to Rafe, who out of passion and compassion agrees to marry her. This devastates Theron who then realized his error. All seems resolved until on the day of Libby's newborn son's christening, her father overhears gossip that his daughter was impregnated by Captain Hunnicutt, and goes into a rage. We then see Wade and Hannah reconcile, at home, after seventeen years. After Hannah leaves the room, Wade is then shot down by an unknown murderer who escapes. Theron tracks down his father's killer and sees he is Halstead. Theron kills Halstead in self-defense and soon after Rafe catches up. Though Rafe objects, Theron decides to leave town never to return. In the end, several months later, Rafe encounters Hannah at Wade’s grave. He offers to include her in the life of her grandson, and she shows him that she has acknowledged him as Wade’s son on the headstone. Cast [ ] • as Capt. Year: 1914 Cast: Production: Keystone Description: Kid Auto Races at Venice, Cal. Is enormously important as the comedy in which audiences first saw Chaplin’s Tramp character. It is also invaluable as it affords an opportunity to examine the reactions of Chaplin’s first audience—the spectators at the car race—to the comic antics of the Tramp. Kid Auto Races at Venice, Cal. Was filmed at the second annual 'Pushmobile Parade,' a children’s car race, held on Sunday January 11, 1914 in Venice, California. The improvised film (allegedly filmed in a mere forty-five minutes) has as its comic situation the Tramp managing to get in the way of the motion picture cameraman who is attempting to film the event. At first the spectators do not know what to make of the funny little man. Is he really a nuisance? As the action continues, their puzzlement changes to genuine amusement. Unlike other screen comedians, Chaplin immediately positions himself as one with his audience. A split-reel film (running 500 feet or less), Kid Auto Races at Venice, Cal.
